Consumer Protection Act (2007)

Most consumers interact with digital media by shopping online. You actually have more rights when it comes to online shopping than you do in a walk-in shop. How I use Digital Media every day

Unknown

I use Digital Media every day like phone, earphones, apps/softwares or like social media, ATM for bank account card to take cash out, or even smart boards, iPads/Android Tablets.

Before Digital technology we had analog technology.

  • Jukebox
  • Cassete/Tapes
  • VHS
  • Landline
  • Radio
  • Type writer

Imagine if you were recording a vocal through a microphone onto an analog tape recorder. The microphone takes the original signal and presses it direct into the tape. The singing is a wave. Digital technology includes CD’s of music sample like mp3.

Advantages of Digital:

  • Mobility
  • Instant
  • Foretime
  • Lighter
  • Can share information easier and faster

We did some coding by using Binary numbers. We translated letters from the alphabet into binary codes. When then took a look ar row different formats that information comes in images, videos, texts, etc. We looked at how Mp3s compare to WAV files and discussed the different types of frequencies.

We also looked at the different types of social networks:

  • Personal (Facebook, Twitter)
  • Professional (Linkedin)
  • Common Interest (Flickr, Soundcloud)
